It is situated above the thyroid cartilage (the Adam&#8217;s apple). This was a Thyroglossal cyst. It is a butterfly-shaped organ and is located in front of the neck and below the Adam&#8217;s apple.  It is composed of the left lobe and the right lobe.  The thyroid gland is responsible for secreting thyroxine (T4) and <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Triiodothyronine\" target=\"_blank\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Triiodothyronine\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">triiodothyroninine <\/a>(T3).  These hormones are necessary for the body to function normally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-very-light-gray-background-color has-background\"><strong>Adam&#8217;s Apple<\/strong>:  Adam&#8217;s apple is a protrusion or a lump, typically larger in males, that is formed by the angle of the thyroid cartilage surrounding the larynx.
