Laparoscopic Surgery is also called Minimally Invasive Surgery. In this method of surgery small incisions are made through which a laparoscope is inserted into the abdomen. Laparoscope is a long metal tube which has a lighted camera at the tip for visualization of the internal structures. The incisions measure around 0.5 to 1 cm and is called "port". Trochar, which is a tubular instrument, is placed at each of the port site through which the laparoscope is passed. Carbon dioxide is used to inflate the abdomen for better visualization of the internal structures and to provide a working space for the surgeon. The surgeon views and performs the surgery by viewing the high resolution video monitors in the operating room that display high resolution images of the internal anatomy that is transmitted through the video camera placed at the tip of the laparoscope.

Laparoscopic Surgery - Video Talks

How Laparoscopic Surgery developed in India? Dr. Padmakumar interview with Dr. Misra. Watch Video

Dr. Padmakumar on Laparoscopy on Medibiz TV. Watch Video

Laparoscopic Surgery for Hernia (Malayalam). Watch Video

Laparoscopy and Obesity (Malayalam). Watch Video

Related Articles

["GET
